Coventry City have called off their proposed friendly with Juventus. Tickets were withdrawn from sale yesterday as it became clear that the game would not be going ahead thanks to Claudio Raineri who wavered over the weekend.

Paul Fletcher said: "Juventus have shown a real lack of professionalism after everything was agreed. "Both clubs had entered into an agreement on the arrangements made and for one of the biggest clubs in Europe to renege on their undertaking is bitterly disappointing."

City have replaced them with Espanyol for the game on July 31st with Spanish side Espanyol.

Said Paul Fletcher: "This will be the first of two pre-season friendlies against foreign opposition and I am sure it will be a great spectacle. "I hope the fans will turn up in their numbers to cheer Iain and the team on against a high-profile team who are sure to give us a tough test."

Ticket prices for the game will be announced shortly.
