Jorgensen Tonight's Match Guest

Last updated : 14 March 2017 By CCFPA

Scorer of the first ever goal at the Ricoh Arena in a Football League match - Claus Jorgensen is the Coventry City Former Players Association's special guest’ for the Sky Blues’ do or die home match with Southend United tonight (Tuesday 14th March 2017) at the Ricoh.

A regular visitor to Sky Blues home games he will be desperately hoping that, in new gaffer Mark Robins’ second match in charge, the Sky Blues can find winning form and keep the faint hope of avoiding relegation lingering just a bit longer. In the end, after matching high flying Bradford City in the first half last Saturday the Sky Blues were beaten by the better team as the Bantams exposed our defensive frailties. CBJ will want to see our boys show a sharper cutting edge tomorrow night and keep the Shrimpers, themselves eager for the points since they are just outside the League One top six, at bay.

Claus will always be part of CCFC history having scored their first ever Ricoh goal after 10 minutes when the Sky Blues defeated QPR at its then new ground in August 2005. The other scorer (Dele Adebola) and the Sky Blues gaffer Micky Adams at the time are now fellow CCFPA members and Dele was our special guest only a few home matches ago.

A Faroe Islands international, Claus was a combative forward who came from Bradford City in August 2003 and clocked up 62 appearances for the Sky Blues scoring six times, moving to Blackpool in 2006 and thence to Port Vale. Since hanging up his boots Claus has been developing his media and business careers and is proprietor of a local company Unique Floorcare Ltd (one of CCFPA’s Corporate members). In the last few years he has also been involved in part-time coaching (U9s-14s) for CCFC’s Academy. Most recently, since August 2016, CBJ has been providing coaching assistance at Vanarama Conference North outfit Tamworth FC for their manager, another former Sky Blue (and CCFPA member) Andy Morrell.

Both Claus and Andy have also appeared in the Sky Blues Legends XI team of veterans in charity fixtures and we wish both of them well in guiding ‘the Lambs’ to further success in 2016-17.

CBJ will also be doing matchday analysis during the game for BBC CWR as well touring the corporate areas at the Arena before and after the game. We also expect he will be able to meet our fans in the G-Casino from the stage of Lady Gs  after the game.  Other Former Sky Blues from our CCFPA membership who we expect to attend the Southend game are:- Dave Bennett, Ken Brown, Dietmar Bruck, Ron Farmer, Stuart Giddings, Ian Goodwin, Micky Gynn, Peter Hormantschuck, Lol Harvey, Brian Nicholas, Gordon Simms, Kirk Stephens, Bill Tedds, Graham Walker,  Bob Wesson and Peter Wyer,

Come and meet him and them and enjoy the game!
