Jordan Clarke Joins CCFPA

Welcome to ‘Cov Kid’, CCFC supporter and former Sky Blue defender Jordan Clarke who has become the Coventry City Former Players Association’s latest new signing.

Jordan now plies his footballing trade with Scunthorpe United (along with fellow Coventrian and CCFPA member Gary McSheffrey).

CCFPA committee member Frank Pritchard tracked Jordan down earlier this week and the local man was very happy to take time out from his busy professional life to rendezvous with Frank at an M1 service station to finalise the deal. Frank chatted briefly with the 24 year old about his already extensive career with the Sky Blues, Yeovil and Scunthorpe. Jordan eventually made 144 first team appearances for the Sky Blues in league and cup (4 goals) and has already clocked up over 40 appearances for Scunny being part of their side which beat the Sky Blues at the Ricoh 2-1 at the end of last month.

Jordan in the Sky Blue

Previously captain of the Sky Blues U16 side, Jordan made his professional debut for City as a substitute on 9 August 2009, in a 2–1 Championship win against the Tractor Boys, making his full debut three days later in the League Cup against Hartlepool United.  Jordan gained England U19 recognition in September 2009 and played a large part in helping England advance to the elite qualification round for the 2010 Euro Championships. On 22 October 2010 he scored his first goal for the Sky Blues in a 3–0 home victory over Barnsley.

Although in July 2013, then CCFC gaffer (and now CCFPA member) Steven Pressley confirmed that Jordan was one of eight players to be released, the decision was quicky reversed and Jordan came back into the first team squad with a new contract primarily as a centre-back. In late 2014 Jordan was loaned to fellow League One side Yeovil Town for three months (7 apps 3 goals) with Aaron Martin (now at the Ricoh on permanent contract) coming in the opposite direction. On 10 January 2015, Jordan signed for current Sky Blues’ League One competitors Scunthorpe United on a two-and-a-half-year deal and has since been a regular for them.
