Jones learns from injury scare

Coventry City's 18 year old striker Jodi Jones has emerged unscathed after last Friday's final pre-season friendly win at Nuneaton.

Jones suffered a thigh injury prior to the game and was forced to sit and watch in the three previous warm-up games while he received treatment.

Jones now hopes to have secured a place in the starting eleven for City's first game of the new season at Swindon on Saturday.

He told the Coventry Telegraph, “I was struggling in the warm-up at Rugby Town and I just wanted to let the physio know before the game,” I obviously wanted to play and I was gutted not to play because there were only a few pre-season games left and I wanted to keep impressing, but my thigh felt a bit tight and the main thing is that I want to be fit for the first game of the season.

“I have been working with the physios and it’s better now and I came back for the Nuneaton game and it was fine. It was just a bit of tightness and felt like if I was going to sprint that something would go.

"I have never really had any bad injuries, just a few knocks, so I didn’t really know what it was. But the physios said I did the right thing by telling them because if I’d have carried on it could have led to me being out for weeks.”

Jones joined Coventry City at the end of last season on an emergency loan with an option to make a permanent move later. He signed a four year deal with the club in May.
