Former Coventry City loanee Jon Stead is expected to complete a move to Notts County today.

Stead was released by Huddersfield Town back in May and will after successfully completing a medical, he will sign a two year deal with the League Two club.

The striker made his decision after speaking to County boss Ricardo Moniz and head of recruitment Guy Branston and told the Nottingham Evening Post:

"I am really excited about what I have seen, having spoken to the manager and people throughout today," he said.

"I had a lot of contact with Guy who got hold of my number and I had some good chats with him.

"I remember him as a player so I didn't want to disappoint him too much.

"I said there were other things lined up, but I felt with the commitment the club is showing towards moving forward and getting back on the right track, I felt it was something I wanted to be a part of."
