Johnson May Be A Target

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson could be a possible target for the managerial vacancy at Coventry City. The Robins boss whose side knocked the Sky Blues out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night was a candidate during his Yeovil days and the two games against the West Country pace setters have shown the good job he is doing at Ashton Gate. Bristol's local paper believes that Geoffrey Robinson is keen to speak to Johnson.

Eric Black is currently the fans favourite for the job but with Mike McGinnity still around as Club President and his current club Birmingham City hot favourites for a quick return to the Premiership, it is unlikely Black would want to return.

Gary McAllister is the bookies favourite but his past managerial record at the club is nothing special with only seventeen wins from 68 matches. His treatment of players is also highly questionable with tactics including making those players not in his clique train at the Memorial Park. Appointing a manager for a second time has not worked for City in the past and whether McAllister has the motivational skills currently needed is open to debate.

Richard Money is also attracting attention. Currently manager of Walsall, the good work Money did at the club was undone by his links with Bryan Richardson. A former Academy Director, he was doing a decent job with Roland Nilsson until Jim Smith was appointed. The Saddlers are likely to demand a level of compensation which City may not be able to justify.
