John Hits Back

Underfire Stern John has hit back at the calls for him to be sent off by City fans during the defeat by Burnley.

The Trinidad & Tobago international striker todl the CET: "I heard what the fans were saying and that's what you get some times. "They either like you or they hate you and you just have to get on with it. No one says they have to like you.

"Since I have been here they have been up and down with me but I have to be professional. No-one said it would be easy. Maybe I can score a couple of goals in the next game and maybe they will start shouting my name.

"The first time it happened at Wigan it really affected me. "I came to this club because I wanted to play football. If I didn't want to play I could have stayed at Birmingham and just relaxed, but it is because I am so passionate about my game that I came to Coventry.

"I had options to go to other clubs but I came here because I thought Coventry were going to go places. Unfortunately it is not happening the way we want and that is life and you just have to get on with it.

"I don't know why they have turned against me. Maybe the expectation was too high when I came here. I can score goals and I am a proven goal scorer in the first division and Premier League but I have to get the service to do that. I have just got to get my head down and keep going.

"I do work hard when I don't have the ball but sometimes I can't seem to please the fans. "I am a different type of player and like the ball to my feet and then I can do stuff with it.

"My team-mates and the gaffer see me every day and they know what I can do so if the manager is playing me it will only be a matter of time before it goes right.

"I welcome the manager bringing in new players. "He is in charge and he is going to make the squad stronger. "I only came back from international duty on Friday and was on the bench even though I felt a bit sluggish, so it was difficult. But because of injuries we haven't got the depth on the bench and if we had then I wouldn't have played on Saturday.
