The 27 year old is on international duty with Trinidad and Tobago and won't be back until later in the week. Leeds United are also interested in the former Nottingham Forest striker.
Graham Hover said: "We are at an advanced stage and are hopeful that both players will join us later this week. "We have agreed fees for them with their clubs and negotiations are ongoing with the players' agents. I can't confirm who they are at this stage."
Coventry have also been linked for a move for West Brom's Darren Moore and he is likely to be the second player.
City have now pulled out of a bid for Blackburn's Andy Todd.
