Joe Cole has had his contract with Coventry City cancelled.

The midifelder made 22 appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring twice and is off to America to play for Tampa Bay Rowdies in the NASL.

Speaking about Cole to Keiran Crowley, Tony Mowbray said: "I would like to place on record my personal thanks to Joe and everything he has done during his time with the club.

"He has been an excellent character to have around the football club through the season, and an exemplary example of how to be a professional footballer, both on the pitch and off it.

“One of the first to arrive in the morning and never had an off-day in training, his impact on the club and the players around him has been excellent. He was determined to get himself in the right shape to play which shows his love and passion for the game, and for that reason, he is a perfect role model and I'm sure everyone at the club and supporters would join me in wishing him all the best for the future."
