Coventry Sphinx are through to the Birmingham Floodlit Cup Semi-Final after a 3-1 win over Goorich at Sphinx Drive. Paul Charnley's side were knocked out of the competition by Rushall Olympic but were reinstated after it was discovered than two ineligible players were field.

Two previous attempts to get the game played failed but tonight, conditions allowed the game to go ahead and saw a drive Jason Holmes put Goodrich ahead. Sphinx striker Jerome Murdock levelled before the break.

Paul Charnley,a 250-1 outside for the City manager's job was grateful to his young keeper Ashley Hooker who made a string of superb saves to keep Sphinx in the game.

With six minutes to go, substitute Callum Woodward slipped the ball for Jerome Murdock to put Sphinx ahead. In the 89th minute, Murdock had a penalty saved but four minutes into stoppage time, finished off another Woodward attack to complete his hat-trick and send Sphinx through.
