Jennings Wants A Wembley Final

Coventry City midfielder Steven Jennings has admitted that he would like a Wembley Final on his playing cv.

Jennings is expecting a tough encounter tomorrow night when the Sky Blues take on Preston North End at the Ricoh Arena in the Johnstones Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi-Final and told the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: "We know that we can’t afford to sit back against Preston – we’ve got to take it to them from the first minute.

“We owe them nothing, they owe us nothing and they’ve got their own tactics. If we have to match them up and battle it out at times, so be it – that’s part and parcel of football and you have to get on with it.

“But most of all we’ve got to stick to our plan, do the things we do on the training pitch every day, and if we do that the gaffer has got every confidence that we can win the game.

“The league is our bread and butter and although we had a slow start we’ve turned the corner now.

“But the JPT is a good competition and it would be great to have a Wembley final on your CV; I’ve been there to watch Everton play and it would be great to get there as a player.

“The fans here are desperate for success – rightly so because this is a very big club. It’s up to us to put a smile back on their faces and we could do that by winning on Thursday and getting to the latter stages.”
