Jeffers Gets Cambridge Outing

Shaun Jeffers who is on loan from Coventry City to Cambridge United came on as a 75th minute substitute this afternoon.

The striker came on in Cambridge's 1-0 defeat at Darlington.

City old boy Ashley Cain (pictured below) scored for Mansfield Town in a 2-0 win for Mansfield Town at Tamworth.

Locally, Nuneaton Town are four points clear at the top of the Conference North Division after going down to a 2-1 defeat at Eastwood Town. Meikle put Eastwood ahead in the fourth minute and in the 87th minute, Rhead added a second. In the final minute of the match, Harris reduced the arrears for Nuneaton but it was too late.

Former City youngster Andy Gooding scored for Hinckley United in a 2-1 home defeat to Workington.

Leamington lost 1-0 at Swindon Supermarine. Stanley scored the only goal of the game with a 69th minute penalty.

In the Southern League Central Division, goals from Connolly, Oban and Simpson gave Rugby Town a 3-1 win at Aylesbury. A Keane goal gave Bedworth United a 1-1 draw against AFC Hayes but Atherstone lost 2-1 at home to Daventry.

In the Midland Alliance, Stratford Town won 3-0 at Oadby Town. Stratford are sixth but Coventry Sphinx are 20th after their 1-0 defeat at home to Bridgnorth Town.

A goal from PJ Gordon gave Coventry Copsewood a 1-0 win at Pelsall Villa. Alveston won 4-2 at Castle Vale JKS, Massey Ferguson drew 1-1 at home to Bartley Green and Nuneaton Griff beat Brocton 2-1.

In Division One of the Midland Combination, Kenilworth Town lost 1-0 at home to Archdale 73 whilst in Division Two, Young Warriors drew 3-3 at Bromsgrove Sporting but Leamington Hibernian lost 9-1 at home to Lichfield City.

Future Legends won 1-0 at Coton Green Reserves and Stratford Town A beat Alveston Reserves 1-0.

In the Birmingham Junior Cup, Coventry Amateurs lost 3-0 at home to Aston.
