Coventry City's new assistant Richard Shaw has said that is like he has never been away.

Shaw, who made over 300 appearances for the Sky Blues has been appointed assistant manager to Andy Thorn and spoke to Sky Blue Player about his appointment, something which many City supporters see as a step to his eventual appointment as manager.

The defender who ended his playing career at Millwall said: "It does feel like a homecoming really and it is great to be back here. Driving into Ryton this morning, it was like I have never been away.

"It'll be a tough job and there are many challenges for us to face but I am really looking forward to it. It is a great club to be at and I am extremely excited.

"I have had a look at the squad and obviously I never stopped looking out for the club. I really think we have great bunch of players here and we just need to be positive about the future."
