Ipswich Town are hoping to announce their new manager before Coventry City play their final Championship game of this season at Portman Road on Sunday May 3rd.

The Suffolk based side sacked manager Jim Magilton this morning by phone after he had returned to Belfast after his mother was rushed into hospital.

Brian Klug has been placed in temporary charge of the team which will finish outside the play-off places.

All the usual suspects including Roy Keane are in the running for the vacancy.

New Chief Executive Simon Clegg is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "'We are now starting to speak to other people and we are close to making an appointment. "If we can get someone in before the end of the season that would have its benefits." Sky Sports are reporting tonight that Roy Keane is set to be named as manager within the next 24 hours.
