Whilst a good number of City fans were at Old Trafford watching England win their World Cup Qualifying Group with a 2-1 victory over Poland, Richard Duffy played for Wales in a 2-0 over Azerbaijan in Cardiff. Ryan Giggs scored both goals for John Toshack's side.

Former Sky Blue Stephen Pressley and Coventry kid Graham Alexander played in Scotland's 3-0 win in Slovenia. Another Coventry kid James Quinn played for Northern Ireland in their 2-0 defeat in Austria.

Also not going to Germany are the Republic Of Ireland who could only draw 0-0 with Switzerland at Lansdowne Road when they needed a victory to ascertain a play-off place.
