Injury concerns ahead of Stevenage game

Coventry City manager will have to deal with a few injury problems ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Stevenage.

Captain Carl Baker is a doubt for the game as he continues to recover from a calf strain. Adam Barton is set to lead the side in Baker’s absence.

On the field, City Academy graduate Billy Daniels could be fit to take Baker’s place on the right midfield. Daniels had his own injury concerns but has made significant progress with his hip injury.

Pressley is being cautious with Daniels and may prefer to allow him another week, saying,  “Billy is close but the weekend might be a bit of a risk.”

Barton started last week’s game against Brentford, but was taken off at half time as Pressley thinks he is better suited to a central role rather than right.

Pressley explained: “There is, within the game itself, the opportunity at the right time to change the permutation of the three midfield players, but I think Conor Thomas and John Fleck have performed exceptionally well as a partnership.

“Adam’s a very good player and given the opportunity with the advancement with Cyrus Christie on the right, I think it can work. The thing about the lead-up to the last game is that he hardly trained, just a couple of days, but he’s got a full week under his belt this week and he’ll benefit from that.”
