Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has admitted that the club will be around for a lot longer than him.

Ranson, whose offer to resign in 2009 was rejected by the then board, told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm only interested in one thing and that is taking Coventry City forward. I remember when the club was £40 million in debt and losing £10 million a year with a squad that was worthless.

"We've bought players and, yes, we've sold them. We are custodians of the football club. Coventry City will be around for a lot longer than Ray Ranson.

"I'm not denying the fact that I've been disappointed with certain discussions and that was a long time ago.

"I'm a big boy and can look after myself. It's not about Ray Ranson, it's about Coventry City Football Club."
