Coventry City forward Callum Wilson has thanked Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley for giving him the chance to play in the first team.

Wilson, whose brace against Preston North End took him to five goals so far this season, told the Coventry Telegraph's Simon Gilbert: “With my injuries and stuff you do have an outlook on your football career but I’ve turned things around.

“The manager has put his faith in me and I’m just so over the moon that he has. I’m so grateful to him that he has given me my chance and I’m trying to take it with both hands."

Wilson, who has scored against Crawley, a brace against Crewe and proved too difficult for the Carlisle defence to live with said: “Obviously I have set myself some targets but I’m not willing to discuss them. They’re not silly targets and I think I can achieve them and that’s what I’m aiming to do at the moment.

“Last year I scored just the one league goal and now I’ve scored five in four games, I’m just over the moon at the minute, I just want to keep on doing what I’m doing and to keep on scoring more goals.

“The first one on Sunday was a bit similar to my goal at Crawley – just in the middle of the goal and tapping it in but that’s what strikers need to do, get in and around the box, and I’ve got the rewards.

“The second was one of the best goals I’ve scored this season, but I think my best goal was probably still the one I scored against Colchester last season.”
