Former Coventry City youth team keeper Dean Kiely has said that he is a massive Tony Mowbray fan.

Kiely worked with him at West Brom and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, he said about Tony Mowbray, who should be confiimed as the permanent City manager today: “He’s a top fella’ who has a real belief and way that football and his teams should play.

“I’m a massive Tony Mowbray fan; I think he’s a fantastic football person and also a fantastic bloke as well. He’s genuine, honest and has clarity as to what he wants from you as a player, and in this day and age that’s a refreshing way to be because there are lots of people who go about things a different way.

“But I think players respond to clear messages and Tony Mowbray will get across how he wants his team to play. And I have to say he plays an attractive brand of football – certainly we did at West Brom – and I played all of that season when we got promoted out of the Championship, and if you were a West Brom fan you were certainly served up a feast of football because he has a way of playing.

“He likes a good balance to his side but he certainly wants his players to be creative in the attacking third. And if he can get the right players in I see good times ahead for Coventry with Tony Mowbray as manager, that’s for sure.”
