Coventry City midfielder Sammy Clingan has said that he will be up for taking a penalty if the occasion arises.

Clingan let Gary McSheffrey take the one in the 50th minute of the 2-2 draw at Cardiff City on Wednesday night, which following a series of delays, McSheffrey sent over the bar.

Speaking to the CT's Alan Poole, Clingan said; "I told Gary to keep his head up because at the end of the day the best players in the world miss penalties.

“It would have been nice to see it go in and Sheffs is confident in his ability, so that’s why I let him take it.

"But hopefully, if we get another one, I’ll try to grab it as quickly as possible.”
