James McPake has said that he was not fit enough to help Coventry City.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, McPake, who has been on loan at Hibernian and has helped them to SPL safety and a Scottish FA Cup Final against cross town rivals Hearts on May 19th, said: “I have followed the results and kept in touch with quite a few of the lads, speaking to someone most days.

“I honestly thought they were going to get out of it, especially after they went on a good run until Easter.

“Coventry is my parent club and it’s been hard not being involved but it was also hard being down there and not getting a game.

"That’s not having a go at the manager or anyone else, I wasn’t fit enough to play.

“I wasn’t right and I told the manager that and we both agreed that I needed to play games. I would have liked to have helped and I still think I could have helped but not in the condition I was in.”
