Coventry City keeper Lee Burge has said that he wants to push Joe Murphy as much as he can this season.

Burge has shown some excellent form in pre-season with fine performances during the Sky Blues tour of Germany/Holland as well as in the pre-season fixtures in England.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Burge,.who clearly has benefitted from his loan spell at Nuneaton Town last season, said: "I want to push Joe as much as I can and I think that will help him as well.

“Obviously I am very happy to be No.2 and if I am required I will do everything I can to do a good job for the team.

“Murph is a great guy to learn from with all his experience at international level and in the Championship. And along with Oggy they are both great mentors to me. They’ve been there and done it and they both put their points across and I try to take it all on board.

“I’ve not played a senior game yet and it would be nice to play on merit, but I just take any appearance I can. I’m still young and I can’t wait to get my first game and keep progressing.

“I might get the chance in one of the cups but, if not, we’ll see how it goes. At the moment I’m just enjoying being involved in the first team squad and working hard on my progression. And I can’t wait for the season to start.”
