I Want Thomas To Fulfill His Potential - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley wants midfielder Conor Thomas to fulfill his potential.

The midfielder, who was appearing for City U18's aged 14 and was loaned out to Liverpool, started pre-season in 2012 as City's captain. However, he was the victim of a leaving present by Gary Deegan and was out until December after being brought back too early.

Now the City manager wants Thomas who will play for a side not far off the sort of team City were fielding at U21 level last season, to step up to the plate and Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner:

I want Conor Thomas to start fulfilling that great potential that he has. I hope he will come to the fore this season.

“I have had a number of frank discussions with Conor because when I arrived at the club I asked people about the players and there’s no doubt that Conor’s name was at the top of many people’s lists in terms of what a prospect he was.

“I now want to see him dominate games because I believe he can. He’s a terrific athlete with great football ability and I want him to play a big part this season.

“What’s pleased me is that he has started to take that on board in the under-21s when he gave some really encouraging performances and then when he came into the first team at the end of the season he really stepped up and showed many people the real Conor Thomas, especially in the last game at Notts County, and I want to see that on a regular basis.

“He has to prove that he can handle it because he has all the attributes to be a top player but he now has to start proving that.”
