I Understand The Frustrations - Kilbane

Coventry City captain Kevin Kilbane has said that he understands the frustrations of the City support.

Writing in his column in City's matchday programme for the game with Stevenage, Kilbane wrote: "As players, we know it's our job to give the fans something to cheer about and something to get them excited about. In the first half against Bury and for the whole Birmingham game we really got the fans going and when that happens it definitely rubs off on the players.

"I think we have to make you, the supporters, our extra man this season and when you see the following we had at Crewe - where we took out the whole stand down the side of the pitch - we have to turn that into our favour.

"I understand the frustrations 100% because we went from the Birmingham performance to the Crewe performance in the space of just a few days and that simply wasn't acceptable.

"Having said that, I can say hand on heart from my own point of view and from the other players points of views, that it is not a question of effort or desire.

"I am never one for making excuses,we just have to be a better team and I know that once the first league win comes, it will really lift everyone.

"The supporters have followed this club through thick and thin, so of course, you can understand that they might start to think 'here we go again' when we lose a game.

"But this is a new group of players and we all want to help this club get back into the Championship and I definitely believe that we have a squad capable of going up automatically.

"That said we have to show that in our performances and in the results we pick up rather than in the words we use before and after games."
