Burnley defender Graham Alexander returns to his home town club to make his 700th appearance in the Football League when the Clarets face Coventry City tonight at 7.45pm.

However, the Canley Lad is amongst those whose City supporting memories are at Highfield Road.

"I was obviously a Coventry supporter all my childhood,"said Alexander to the CT. "I used to go and watch Coventry with my dad from the age of seven or eight and the 1987 FA Cup Final was the culmination of a lot of hard years supporting them. "That was probably my last year supporting them as my football took hold.

"The Ricoh Arena is a bit different. I used to love going going back to play at Highfield Road because it is where my memories of being a child and going to football are.

"I managed to play there five or six times and really tried to score but never did. I was sad when they left.

"There are a lot of great new grounds about and it's a great stadium but it has not got the memories of Highfield Road."

"But I was buzzing to be signed on by anyone if I am honest.
