Coventry City striker Clinton Morrison knew that he was going to score when he came as a 69th minute substitute for Michael Doyle aganst Derby County on Saturday.

"I was sitting on the bench and said to Robbie Simpson that it was becoming a joke that I wasn't getting on - and I also said to him that I was going to score, so I was pleased," said Morrison to the CT.

"I went to the manager because he was the one who worked hard to bring me to this club and he played me in the first nine league games and I didn't score but he always believed in me and I have tried to reward him.

"It is a big deal to score goals and I want this club to take off. I have got a lot of trust in the manager and he has got a lot of trust in me, and that's why I ran to him straight away."
