Coventry City loanee David McGoldrick has said that he hopes Richard Shaw gets the vacant City manager's job.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, McGoldrick who scored for the Sky Blues on Sunday said: “I’m disappointed, particularly in the League, because Shawsy has brought me in and I wanted to help get wins for him.

"That hasn’t happened but I personally hope he gets the job because he’s a good bloke, as is Lee Carsley.

“They have to decide upstairs and hopefully, if they are going to keep Shawsy, they will back him quickly because I feel we need to move forward.

“If they stick with Shawsy, great, but if they are going to bring in a new manager he needs to come in and work with the players.

“But no matter who is in charge at Tranmere on Saturday we have got to go up there and grind out that first win and as soon as we do that I think we’ll be all right.”
