I Don't Want Complacency - Pressley

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that he does not want any complacency from his team.

“We’ve got a momentum just now and a really good feeling but I don’t want that to turn to complacency,” Pressley said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.

“That’s one of the biggest jobs for a manager – you don’t want to curb that energy that being on a run creates but you have to make sure that the players are re-focused for the next challenge.

“The game this weekend is just as big as last Friday and it’s just as important to get a result.

“We talked about getting good points on the road at MK Dons and Swindon but that would have been wiped out if we hadn’t performed against Gillingham

“It’s the same on Saturday – we’ve made a good start to the season but we need to continue that, show that we’ve got the consistency and the momentum you need if you want to be challenging at the top end of the table.

“As manager I also have to manage expectations because I think we have come a long way.

“It’s a long-term project and we’re already talking about the Under-18s for next season because we’re really going to have to work hard to put the correct foundations in place for this club for years to come.

“I don’t want anyone to lose sight of the fact that we are trying to change the club; we are trying to build something special and I think that we are moving in the right direction but there will be set-backs on the road, there’s no doubt about that.”
