Colin Hawkins has admitted that he did not want to leave Coventry City. The defender, who impressed the City support before succumbing to injury which kept him out for most of the season just gone completed a two year deal with Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

Said the Irishman to the CT: "I am very disappointed to be leaving Coventry City because I thought I did well for the club and wanted to continue to prove myself at Championship level.

"Unfortunately,I did not really get a chance under Chris Coleman but I don't bear him any grudges and I wish him and the club every success for next season and beyond."
