Coventry City Football Club has signed experienced midfielder Don Hutchison ahead of Saturday’s game against Norwich City. The 34-year-old joins the squad from Millwall in a loan deal which runs until January 3. A former Scottish international with 25 caps, Hutchison started his career as a trainee at Hartlepool, before moving to Liverpool in 1990.

He has had five moves over a million pounds in his career, the greatest being when West Ham United signed him for £5-million in 2001. Hutchison has had two spells at the Hammers, as well as playing for Sheffield United, Everton and Sunderland. He moved to Millwall in the summer of 2005 and has made 11 appearances this season.

Hutchison will not be eligible to play against Millwall at the Arena on December 10.

Said Sky Blues Manager Micky Adams: “With the amount of injuries we have at the moment it was evident we needed cover in midfield. “Don is a vastly experienced player who has plied his trade at the highest level and he will be a very welcome addition to our squad.
“He’s famed for his determined style of play and I’m sure he’ll be a positive asset for us.”
