Hutch Wants Extended Coventry Stay

Speaking via his own Icons website, Don Hutchison has said that he would be happy to stay at Coventry.

The midfielder said: "I'm really enjoying my football at Coventry City this season and I make no secret of the fact that I'd love to stay here next year. This is a club that's going places and I want to be part of it.

"I know that I'm not a youngster any more but I feel as if I've proved that I can still do very well at this level since joining Coventry earlier this season. My form is good, and the results have been excellent too, so I'd like to think that I've done enough to extend my stay here.

"Micky Adams hasn't said anything to me yet about a new contract but I'm hopeful he sees it the way I see it. I'll just have to wait and see – I can't force the matter. In the meantime, even though Coventry City are my first choice for next season I'll have to keep my options open and look out for a new club. I hope to have impressed a few people with my play this year.

"I know that the manager has said we can make a late charge for the play-offs, but that is a real long shot. While it's still possible we'll go for it, but in all honesty it's a tall order for us now.

"Our home form is among the best in the Championship, so it's the away results that have cost us. If we'd won just two or three more on our travels we'd be sitting inside the top six. That's been the difference.

"The rest of this season is all about building for next year now. With a fresh start, the introduction of a couple of new players, and an improvement in our away form, I can see Coventry challenging for automatic promotion. We could go really close next year and I can see it happening because the team is improving all the time.

"I'm very optimistic about the future at Coventry City, and I'd love to be a part of it."
