Hull turn to Dowie

Former Coventry City manager Iain Dowie has been appointed Phil Brown's successor at Hull.

The 45 year old Dowie will have a difficult job to keep Hull in the Premiership as they lie in the second from bottom place.

Dowie has manged several clubs. As well as Coventry City  he has been in charge of Oldham, Crystal Palace, Charlton, and Queen's Park Rangers. He had a short spell as Alan Shearer assistant at Newcastle last season in a vain attempt at Keeping the Magpies in the top flight..

The former Northern Ireland international replaces Phil Brown, who was sacked last Monday.

He will take with him to Hull as his assistants Steve Wigley and the former England goalkeeper Tim Flowers.
