Hughes On Three Year Deal

Stephen Hughes has been talking about the three year deal he completed yesterday. The midfielder told Sky Blue World: "The fans were a big plus for me. They were great to me all last year and right until the end of the season they were just fantastic, and I've never had that type of rapport with fans before and that was unbelievable, so that was important to me and another plus."

"Obviously I'm delighted. It's been quite a difficult season for me and I think it's been well documented that there had been quite a few offers, which I was very flattered, but my first priority was always Coventry.

"I spoke with the Chairman, Joe Elliott and the rest of the directors and we had two or three meetings and I liked what they said about the future and trying to get a few more players in. "I think we can have a really good season next year, and with moving to the new season it's exciting times and I'm captain so I'm really looking forward to it and I'm delighted to have signed."
"I think last year was a year where I had to establish myself again and try to play regular football and I did that. It turned out to be a good season for me and signing this new three-year deal I want to kick-on personally next year, and I believe the team can kick-on again.

"You see the likes of Preston and Derby reaching the play-offs last year and I think that's a realistic target for us, we just need to be a bit more solid in certain games and we'll have a lot better season than we did last year."
