Michael Hughes is hoping for a return to international football. The Northern Irishman made his City debut at the place of his school days in Ballymena on Saturday , last played international football in 2004 and has 73 caps.

The 35 year old who played in a style reminiscent of Colin Cameron last season at Ballymena told the CT; "I've always enjoyed playing for Northern Ireland and I wanted to get to 75 caps and have 73,so that is one ambition I haven't quite managed to fulfill.

"I never say never, but if Nigel Worthington was short of players and wanted me to come back then I would give it some serious thought. Only time will because I don't know if I will be a regular or not at Coventry but I am open minded about my chances of playing for my country again."
