Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that it was huge to get the three points against Port Vale.
Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph about the 1-0 win at the Ricoh Arena: “It was huge to get the points today.
“We didn’t need to build up this game because they all knew how important it was. We had a massive crowd here and we wanted to show them what we could do and yet we started like we’d all had too much turkey yesterday.
“We didn’t get out of the blocks at all, they were pushing us back and putting the ball into our box and we were on the back foot.
"We talked a lot about game management in the week but despite all that work we didn’t do that very well in the first half.
“We had a discussion at half-time to get us going and I thought the second half was much better. We generally controlled the game with a lot of balls flashing across the box just needing that little bit of quality.
“It was a bit frustrating but that’s tempered by the fact that it was one of those days when you don’t play too well but get the points.”
