Diamond Day in the Lower Precinct Coventry proved to be a great success, and unlike most events it was not at the mercy of the ubiquitous rain. From the word go the mall was alive not only people, but the sound of music that began in the 1950's with Rock n roll from the Phoenix band, onto Mod Beat and the Sorrows. Calling in to 70's pop thanks to the Zodiacs, the 80's saw Freeman Dance and later The Allskas provide some 2-Tone history, Panjabi MC gave us some great lesson in Bhangra music, and the present and the future was represented brilliantly by teenage band the Prospects who even played the National Anthem draped in Union flags.

Through it all Cov legend Keith Houchen signed photos and talked to the City fans about that glorious day at Wembley. Touch FM's Brody Swain held it all together as the crowds enjoyed the Whitley Abbey Primary Schools history of the Queens Reign and the classic Capri cars on hand. Emma and Julia kept the youngsters happy with their inventive face painting, and the day finished with a superb fashion show from many of The Lower Precinct traders. Everyone left happy.
