Hinckley v Coventry City.

Coventry City: Ellegaarde, Keogh, Hussey, Turner, Cameron, Jeffers, Gunnarsson, Cranie, Wilson, O'Donovan, Smeekes, 

Subs, from: Quirke, Clarke, Eastwood, Grandison, McIndoe, McSheffrey, Doyle, Clingan, Wood, Thomas, Baker (who  still has stitches in his head from last weeks game in Austria).

Referee is Rob Ellis.

Eastwood is among the City subs. It is a cloudy afternoon and their is another trialist goal keeper warming up along with Ellegaarde and Quirke.

Former Sky Blues Gavin Strachan and Suliman Lellu are playing for Hinckley.

Ben Turner is captain for today's game. 

The trialist 'keeper is the young Australian Lawrence Thomas.

There is a reasonable crowd at DeMontfort Park, Hinckley. The match announcer is struggling to announce the Coventry City team.

The match gets under way and Coventry City are playing in their green and black kit.

City are attacking the uncovered end in the first half.

Coventry are playing a 4-4-2 formation with Smeekes and O'Donovan up front.

3rd minute and Michael McGrath hits the post with a header from ten yards out.

6 minutes.First City get a corner which is easily cleared and the ball ends up going out for a Hinckley corner.

9 Minutes, A bad foul on Wilson. The striker requires treatment on the field, but cannot continue.

12 minutes, Substitution; Wilson is replaced by Freddy Eastwood.

It has been confirmed that Wilson has a shoulder injury.

20 minutes. The score is still 0-0 and the sides are pretty evenly matched.

24 minutes. City boss Aidy Boothroyd is pacing around as Jeffers cross comes to nothing.

29 minutes. Andre Grey wins a corner for Hinckley, which is cleared by the City defence. The majority of the game is being played in midfield.

33 Minutes. O'Donovan tries a volley from twenty yards out, but sent the ball clean out of the ground.

35 minutes. Ellegaarde fumbles a long range Leon Miles shot over the bar for a Hinckley corner.

38 minutes. Hinckley win a free kick, which eventually goes out for a corner. Ellegaarde eventually grabs the ball to make it safe for City.

45  minutes. From a Hinckley free kick 20 yards out, Strachan's shot forces Ellegaarde into making a fine save, but concedes a corner. The corner is cleared and the referee blows his whistle for the half time break.

No changes made by Boothroyd at halftime.

Strachan does not reapperar for Hinckley.

Just after the restart Smeekes has a shot across the goal which goes out for a City corner.

The corner is taken and Jeffers fires wide.

 Smeekes gets on the end of an Eastwood cross, but tghe ball is deflected out for another City corner..

48th minute. For the third time in the second half City win a corner. O'Donovan fires over he bar.

 52nd minute. Richard Keogh is doing plenty of attacking from the back as City look tobreak the deadlock.

McSheffrey and McIndoe are both warming up. O'Donovan tries to shoot, but a Hinckley defender blocks him.

Correction. City make one change at half time. Quirke is on in place of Ellegaarde.

City substitutions, Clingan, McIndoe, McSheffrey, Wood, Grandison, Doyle, Baker all come on.

McSheffrey makes an immediate impact with a shot which the Hickley 'keeper nudges over his crossbar.

City are dominating the game at the moment and win another two corners.

 Hinckley have made five changes.

City seem to have more purpose totheirgame since the rash of substitutions.

67 minutes. Chris Hussey goes on a lovely run and has a shot on goal, but is saved.

70 minutes. McIndoe concedes a corner, cleared by the City defence.

71 minutes. O'Donovan turns his man to send the ball in across the six yard bx, but there is no one there to take advantage.

74 minutes. Baker has another City effort, but drags his shot wide.

76 minutes. McSheffrey gets in a shot but skies it well over the bar to the groans of the City section of the crowd.

 On the touchline Boothroyd is shouting and pointing, but efforts are not having any result as with ten minutes to go it is still 0-0.

81 minutes. City have had two corners in succesion, neither of which come to anything.

Hinckley bring on Louis Hamilton.

84 minutes. City win yet another corner, but the referee blows for a foul on the Hinckley goal keeper and the booing starts.

86 minutes. A good move by City is wasted by McSheffrey who blasts the ball well over the bar.

89 minutes. McIndoe loses control of the ball at the vital moment and puts the ball out harmlessly for a goal kick.

The referee bring the game to an end.
