High Demand Has Led To Kit Availability Issues - Tose

Coventry City's Commercial Director Justin Tose, has said high demand for City kits has meant that now some sizes of kits have sold out.

Speaking to Covsupport News Service, in response to a letter in the CT, Mr Tose said: “Replica kits are ordered over 9 months before the start of the season, this year we took receipt of 10 000 shirts in early May. This was to cover expected sales in the region of 8 000 units.

Due to initial high demand we re-ordered a further 2500 shirts, including a top up order on shorts and socks which was delivered in early October. The lead-time (time from order to delivery) on kit is a minimum of 3 months and also requires a minimum order of 2000 units. The CCFC kit is bespoke to use and we take receipt of all stock. This timelines are common across all kit suppliers and don’t allow for small top up orders at short notice.

95% of our sales happen before Christmas, in fact historical sales post-Christmas at the majority of clubs are very small and usually only achieved by significantly reducing the shirt in price.

Sales this year have already exceeded 10 000 units and whilst we are out of stock of a number of sizes (particularly on children’s shorts) we still have very good availability. The kit has been on sale since May and we had full availability on all sizes throughout November. We have run several stories on our Website, in the Coventry Telegraph and had the support on this site to get the message across to fans that availability would be tight in the run up to Christmas and to buy early to avoid disappointment.

However I would like to apologise to any supporters, especially our younger fans who have been left disappointed."
