Herbert Kendall, founder of the Coventry City Supporters Club and Co-Founder of the National Federation of Supporters Clubs was today remembered today to mark the anniversary of his death on June 6th 1948.

Kendall had laid in an unmarked grave at Stoke St Michaels Church on Walsgrave Road, Coventry until Coventry City Supporters Club Historian Lionel Bird discovered this and launched an appeal to raise funds for a headstone.

This was unveiled on June 4th 2004 and today, flowers were laid to remember Herbert and the good work he did in those early days to united football supporters across the country and for those in Coventry to have a better say in Coventry City.

Lionel Bird attended along with Rachel King who represented The Sky Blue Trust and Kev Monks who is a Vice President of the Football Supporters Federation.

The future for the current Coventry City Supporters Club in Freehold Street, Coventry is at this moment unclear. The club has been put up for sale and Lionel Bird has opened a Foleshill Branch of the Coventry City Supporters Club at the Foleshill Club in order to keep the name in Coventry.
