Members of the Sky Blue Trust and the Football Supporters Federation were at a short ceremony at Stoke St Michaels Church, Coventry, today to mark the 60th anniversary of the death of Herbert Kendall.

City supporting Kendall founded the Coventry City Supporters Club along with Lewis Bennington in 1920 and a year later, co-founded the National Federation Of Supporters Clubs , travelling as far as Carlisle and Exeter to talk about the bringing of supporters groups together.

He had laid in an unmarked grave in the churchyard of the Walsgrave Road based place of worship until his plight was discovered by City historian Lionel Bird.

There followed an appeal which raised enough funds for a headstone four years ago and the anniversary has been marked ever since.
