Herbert Kendall Remembered

Last updated : 04 June 2011 By Kev Monks

Herbert Kendall, founder of the Coventry City Supporters Club in 1920 and Co-Founder of the National Federation of Supporters Clubs in 1921, was remembered today on the anniversary of his death on June 4th 1948.

Kendall had laid in an unmarked grave at Stoke St Michaels Church on Walsgrave Road, Coventry until Coventry City Club Historian Lionel Bird discovered this and launched an appeal to raise funds for a headstone.

The headstone was unveiled on June 4th 2004 and today flowers were laid by Lionel Bird and Kev Monks, who is a Vice President Of The Football Supporters Federation, on Mr Kendall's grave to remember Herbert and his pioneering work to unite football supporters across the country in communication which we take so much for granted today.
