Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that healthy football clubs can help local councils across Britain with their community work.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, the City boss who has said that he wants a healthy and successful Coventry City Football Club, said: “Being a healthy club will help us get out into the community to address issues that need looking at and help the council address those issues through players visiting schools and going into the areas that need help, and where various issues can be resolved through sport – areas where people are disadvantaged.

“There’s a lot of work that sportsmen and footballers do that goes unnoticed, and there’s a lot of work that the council need help with – not just Coventry but every council up and down the country – so let’s have this affinity with the community again.

“It’s all got to be put into perspective. The supporters want something they can be proud of and that’s exactly what we want to achieve.”
