Haynes Unlucky Not To Be Involved - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Ryan Haynes is unlucky not to be involved more with the first team.

Haynes has been playing well for City U21's and Mowbray told the Covetry Telegraph's Andy Turner:“Ryan is one of those who could have and probably should have been in and around the bench the last few weeks because of his performance levels in the Under-21s.

“And yet I have spoken to him on the training ground to explain things because the subs are really imbalanced.

“If I’d have put Ryan on the bench instead of Aaron Phillips and Sam Ricketts got injured then people would have asked me why I didn’t have a right-back on the bench. If the left-back gets injured Sam can fill in because he’s played most of his career there.

“So I am trying to balance my bench even though Ryan probably warranted getting some encouragement to get back into that 18 because his performance levels have been really high.

“But the team is more important than Ryan Haynes and the balance has to be right because I am trying to cover the whole pitch with my substitutes really. So if the centre-forward gets injured, who goes where, etc and you try to balance it. Unfortunately for Ryan, the only position I couldn’t really cover was right full-back.”
