Former Coventry City midfielder George Boateng has said that City Coach Steve Harrison is like a second dad to him.

Boateng, who was brought to Nottingham Forest by Steve McLaren but is now struggling to get in their side following the appointment of Steve Cotterill said to the CT's Andy Turner: "I call him Uncle Harry and he's like a second father to me.

"Harry had a massive influence on my career, especially when I joined Villa in the beginning.

"He was Gregory's assistant and he took all the training and coaching and so it was easy for me when I went to Middlesbrough where he had gone.

"I had the chance to go to either Newcastle or Fulham after Villa but in the end I joined Boro because he was there with Gareth Southgate.

"His experience is immense and I am convinced he will help Coventry and Andy Thorn get out of this. You have to remember I was with Harry during the good times and the tough times at Boro.

"In the beginning we had two seasons where we had to fight and scrap to stay in the league and his coaching was brilliant.

"And then things changed and we were playing and winning almost every game and his coaching was spot on, especially for the defenders and defensive midfielders like me. And without him I don't think we would have ever reached the UEFA Cup final."
