Coventry City manager Chris Coleman will resist all interest concerning Keiren Westwood when the January transfer window opens.

The City boss is expecting bids for the keeper who joined the keeper from Carlisle in the close season for a fee of up to £750,000.

Westwood was superb on Monday night at Birmingham in the game shown live by Sky and the City boss is expecting plenty of interest in the keeper.

"There will be a lot of talk about Keiren Westwood in January," said Coleman to the CT. "It wouldn't surprise me if we got a few phone calls but we are building and still nowhere near where we want to be in terms of mounting a challenge in this league.

"We are on our way there, I can assure you of that and we are more than happy with the players we have brought in.

"Keiren is playing at a higher level with and against better players and on a bigger stage and that is bringing the best out in him.

"He's only 23 and got years ahead of him and he's got a lot of potential which we have seen in games he has played for us. "I was delighted when we signed him and and I haven't been disappointed."

Seen as the best keeper in the Championship and certainly the best keeper at Coventry since Chris Kirkland, it is understood that it would take a fee of more than that paid for Kirkland by Liverpool for City even to discuss the matter.
