Aron Gunnarsson, who has been offered a new contract by Coventry City, has hinted he would be happy to stay at the club and sign the new deal.

After the final whistle on Coventry's last home game of the season against Reading, a game in which the City players wore the new 1960's look kit, the players did a lap of The Ricoh to applaud the fans for their support throughout the season.

Gunnarsson was asked by the CT if he could see himself wearing the new kit next season he answered: "Yes, if we can get something sorted then happy days."

Gunnarsson is under no illusion though that he may have played his last home game at The Ricoh.

He continued: "It was sad walking round the pitch with everyone clapping us off at the end. I have obviously enjoyed my time here. It has been three years and I am used to it and if we don't get anything sorted then I will have to take it as a learning experience."

"I am still young with a long time to go in my career so I don't see any harm in staying here because I am still learning and I feel I can learn a lot of things under Andy Thorn, but I don't know if it is going to get sorted or not and I will have to wait until the summer because it will take at least a month to six weeks to get things sorted."

Under Thorn, Gunnarsson is paying the game how he likes to play football and hinted that only a better offer from a bigger club could entice him away fro Coventry.

He said: "That's how I want it to be because I am getting on the ball more and I can pass the ball without being pressured into a long ball. That's my game and how I learnt to play in Holland and how I wanted to take it here, and finally that's happening.

"It is going to be a hard decision but everything is right on the pitch here. I am still only 22 and have got a lot of time and I am not hurrying."

The 22 year old Icelandic international was then asked if he was surprised to be offered a new deal by the recently appointed manager Andy Thorn he said: "No because Andy is a genuine guy and tells us when things are going to happen and I knew it was coming. My agent knew it was coming as well and I will be speaking to him about it and take things from there."

"We need to look at my options. I have Norwich on Saturday and the Euro finals with Iceland in the summer and I am concentrating on those."
