Coventry City, in a statement on the club website, have called the Early Day motion tabled by Coventry MP Jim Cunningham 'grossly defamatory.
The motion was tabled to Parliament on Tuesday and signed by 22 MP's with an amendment from fellow Coventry MP saying that the club's owners had no viable plan or intention to return to Coventry and had put CCFC Ltd in to administration as part of a strategy to defraud its creditors.
The club have responded by saying 'the statements have no foundation and are grossly defamatory' and have challenged the MP's concerned to repeat the statements outside Parliament or withdraw them.
