Grimsby Town have appointed former Sky Blue Graham Rodger as their new manager. Rodger who was part of City's 1987 FA Cup winning team, played 160 times for the Mariners and was last season reserve team boss.

Rodger replaces Russell Slade and told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I am absolutely delighted. "It is an honour to be given this opportunity. "My history and affiliation with the club means it will never be just a job to me - it is a privilege.
"I am passionately committed to this football club after more than 10 years here as player and coach. "It really is a dream to get this. "I desperately wanted it two years ago but looking back in hindsight maybe I wasn't completely ready. "I think I have now served my apprenticeship and developed in the last two seasons. "I can't wait to get started and try and build on last season and go one better."
