Coventry City striker Leon Best has accused Sheffield Wednesday's Michael Gray of making jokes at the late Boyzone singer Stephen Gately as Aron Gunnarsson was stretchered off in the 56th minute of City's 2-0 defeat at Hillsborough on Saturday.

"Gray tried to get him to get up and then he was making sick jokes about Stephen Gately when the people carrying the stretcher were coming on," said Best to the CT.

"It was pathetic and I wasn't happy with that and I had to walk away.

"I don't think he'd have been making jokes if it was his son or daughter lying on the pitch hurt.

"It was just unprofessional and I don't know what he was playing at.

"Aron is a good mate of mine and it's devastating for him. From what I saw of him on the pitch it wasn't good."

On the first half goal that was disallowed, Best said:  "Clinton Morrison spoke to Leon Clarke at half time and he admitted it was miles over.

"I asked the linesman how he could say it wasn't a goal if the keeper was on the floor and covering the ball so he couldn't see it, so he couldn't make a decision whether it was a goal or not."
