Coventry City forward James Maddison has said that it was good to get the first game under his belt.

Maddison told Matt Joyce:

That first game is always tough, it's good to get it out of the way and into your legs," Maddison said.

"The result could've been better but it's our first game, we're gelling with the new signings and a new way of playing. I'm pleased to get 45 minutes and I look forward to the upcoming games.

"I thought the free-kick was in, people are telling me it went over the line! I raised my arms but it's only pre-season so it didn't have any cost. It would have been nice but at this stage its all about minutes and getting that match fitness.

"I want to establish myself as a starting player this year, hopefully I can use pre-season to show everyone what I'm about and give myself a platform to hopefully start for Coventry City."
